Shanghai Tang's Cesar Gaupo shows in the Philippines

In 2010, industry legend Cesar Gaupo returned to the Philippines after a successful stint abroad to do a show at Philippine Fashion week that year. Gaining popularity at a time when the Philippine fashion industry had not even begun to fully stretch its wings, Filipino fashion designer Cesar Gaupo made a name for himself in the international fashion scene. From 2002 to 2005, Gaupo was Creative Director of the Chinese luxury brand Shanghai Tang, a success that has inspired many other Filipino fashion designers in the industry.

With nearly six decades of experience under his belt at the time of Philippine Fashion Week Spring Summer 2011, Gaupo stunned everyone with his collection at the finale show, showcasing designs that were both sophisticated and sexy. Inspired by the work he did on his home in the province of Laguna, his designs not only encapsulated his essence but also captured the inspiration around him and turned them into his own works of art. Gaupo’s show provided the memorable close to that season's Philippine Fashion Week by bringing in one of the country’s legends in the industry to showcase a collection that was both personal and fashionable in true Cesar Gaupo style.
